What is a 'Project' defined as?
A project is considered a new title actively in ideation, pre-production or active development
What is 'Project Budget' defined as?
Your Project Budget is the total expected development cost at time of your game's commercial release or publication. This includes all payments for wages, contractors, running costs, licensing and hardware/software purchases.
When will the Personal accounts be available?
We’re working hard to ensure that Gem will be available to every interactive media creator of any size and budget and will have more plans available soon.
Is there a difference in features or support between license levels?
Currently all features of Gem are available in the Indie, Pro and Premiere Plans. There is a difference in the level of dedicated support included with each license.
Are there any royalties or other recurring fees?
The licence is a 12 month recurring fee which can be paid quarterly, semi annual or yearly. There are no royalties or other associated fees.
Do I need to display the Gem logo in my game?
All Gem licenses require a logo be displayed on a splash screen. This can be waived for an additional fee.
Do you provide a Gem license for Educational or Personal use?
We’re working hard to ensure that Gem will be available to any interactive media creator. At this time Gem is not available for Personal or use in a classroom scenario.
Gem is available for R&D purposes at Post-Secondary Institutions.
Do you provide a license for Gem outside of Games?
Absolutely. While we don’t have specific pricing available for non-linear film, XR or Virtual Production needs just yet we can work with your team on modifying the plan to fit your needs.
What is the cost for read-only & approval based users in the Plus Plan?
There is no charge for read-only collaborators for your account. This would need to be defined in your Evaluation Period.
What is the pricing for Gem for multiple studios throughout our network of developers?

What if our studio intends to have multiple projects running at different development stages?

Can we purchase a single module in Gem rather than the full platform?
Each module is specifically designed to complement your pipeline and is integrated together in defining your Narrative Management System. Additional modules may be available for purchase at an additional cost in the future.
Can we evaluate Gem prior to purchasing?
Currently we are able to offer free trials of Indie, Pro and Premiere plans with an Evaluation Period of 30 days. Typically our team offers a phased approach for evaluation for Design, Writing, Audio & Cinematics and then Development.
Is it possible to get access to source code?
As Gem is a cloud-based application source code will not be available. Any plugins that we develop will be open source.
Can we deploy Gem on our AWS, use our own storage or an on-prem installation?
Not at this time. Under certain situations, Single-tenant AWS installations are available for an additional fee.
Is Gem available in a desktop application or have an offline mode?
Not at this time. Gem is 100% browser-based and requires an internet connection.
Is there a mobile application for Gem?
Not at this time. Projects can be accessed via a mobile browser but are not designed for use.
Is Gem available for Commercial Partnerships?
We don’t currently have formal plans for Consultants, System Integrators or Resellers to provide Gem on our behalf. We’d be happy to start a conversation about working together in the future.
Will I be reminded when a current license is going to expire?
Yes, you will be reminded 90 days prior to your renewal date of expiration of your license.
Are multi-year terms available?
Yes. We can discuss this during your Evaluation Period.
What languages does Gem support?
Currently the UX/UI of Gem officially supports English, French, German, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
Can Gem Support Non-Latin Languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, Arabic or Cyrillic?
Not at this time. Ensuring that Gem will work for non-latin languages would require extensive architectural changes that are currently not planned.
